Complete reliance on technology can sometimes prove dangerous. This was proved in the recent incident in Navi Mumbai, where a woman following Google Maps directions late at night drove her car into a ditch in Belapur.
The incident occurred around 1 am on Friday. According to police, the woman was driving alone in an Audi and was headed towards Ulwe when the mishap took place. Instead of taking a bridge, her car took a wrong turn guided by Google Maps and fell into a ditch.
Police were alerted about the incident and, with the help of the marine security team and a boat, successfully rescued the woman.
“At about 1:00 a.m. on Friday, we received information about an Audi car that had fallen into the Belapur ditch. Our team, along with marine security guards and local police, responded immediately,” said Narayan Palampalle, Assistant Police Inspector, Belapur, speaking to ANI.
“Using a boat from the marine security team, we safely rescued the woman. She was alone in the car when the incident occurred,” he added.
