Government seeks opposition's support for Justice Varma's impeachment

The government is preparing to initiate impeachment proceedings against High Court Judge Justice Yashwant Varma following allegations of corruption. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju is reaching out to opposition parties for a joint motion. The impeachment process requires a two-thirds majority in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Chief Justice of India B R Gawai has backed the Supreme Court's action on Justice Verma, stating that action will be taken against judicial misconduct.
