Governor, CM pay tributes to Veer Kunwar Singh

On Vijay Diwas, Bihar's Governor and Chief Minister paid heartfelt tributes to the valiant freedom fighter Veer Kunwar Singh. The solemn ceremony held at Veer Kunwar Singh Azadi Park saw a gathering of esteemed dignitaries honoring the legacy of the hero, whose majestic equestrian statue remains a symbol of resilience.

Patna: Governor Syed Ata Hasnain and CM Samrat Choudhary on Thursday garlanded the statue of Veer Kunwar Singh, the hero of the 1857 revolt known as the country’s first war for independence, at Veer Kunwar Singh Azadi Park.

The day is celebrated as Vijay Diwas, as Veer Kunwar Singh had secured Jagdishpur and Ara from the hold of British soldiers.On the occasion, deputy CMs Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, state BJP chief Sanjay Saraogi, former deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha, former minister Shrawan Kumar, MLAs Neeraj Kumar Singh and Shyam Rajak, MLCs Sanjay Singh and Kumud Verma, as well as several other prominent people, also paid homage to Veer Kunwar Singh, whose giant statue depicts him mounted on a horse.Later, Samrat also garlanded his statue located on the campus of state cooperative land development bank. The housing board’s national chairman-cum-MLC Vijay Kumar Singh presented him a turban and a sword. Artists of the information and public relations department presented a cultural programme.
