Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has directed the release of ₹1,032 crore towards pending dues of government employees and unpaid bills under the Panchayat Raj and Roads & Buildings (R&B) departments.
At a review meeting held with senior officials at Praja Bhavan on Friday, the Deputy CM instructed the immediate disbursal of funds to clear long-pending liabilities inherited from the previous government.
According to official sources, the Finance Department has released ₹712 crore to settle arrears related to government employees, continuing the monthly exercise initiated by Mr. Vikramarka to systematically clear all dues. “Employee payments and departmental bills will be cleared in a phased manner to ensure financial discipline and timely settlement,” the Deputy CM said during the meeting.
In addition, the government has taken a policy decision to clear all pending bills below Rs 10 lakh, leading to the disbursal of Rs 320 crore for small and medium contractors and suppliers. Of this, Rs 95 crore covering 3,610 bills under the Roads & Buildings Department, and Rs 225 crore pertaining to 43,364 bills under the Panchayat Raj and rural local bodies, were released.
