Govt to set up marine fish hatchery at Benaulim

Panaji: The directorate of fisheries has announced the initiation of a multispecies marine fish hatchery at Benaulim under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The hatchery aims to produce seabass, cobia, pompano, shrimp, bivalves, and marine ornamental fish.

This project will be spread across a 38,000sqm plot at Benaulim.Govt is looking to partner with national and international developers, either individually or through a consortium, for the design, construction, operation, and eventual transfer of the hatchery.The e-procurement process will be conducted through govt’s online portal, with the first round of submissions scheduled for Sep 13. The pre-bid meeting will be held on Sep 11, and the technical bid will open on Sep 15.The successful bidder will be responsible for the comprehensive development of the hatchery, including infrastructure development, management, and the introduction of sustainable farming practices.The multi-species hatchery project is expected to play a crucial role in environmental sustainability.
