The Andhra Pradesh government has introduced a major reform in municipal rent policy, replacing steep periodic hikes with a moderate annual increase to improve occupancy and revenue realisation in the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

As per G.O.Ms.No.92 issued by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department, the new rules replace the earlier 33⅓% rent hike once every three years with a 7% annual increase during the lease period.
