Emma Raducanu is in the news again, and unfortunately it is not for a title. The British No. 1 has withdrawn from the Miami Open 2026 due to lingering post-viral symptoms, the latest setback in a season that has had more interruptions than anyone would have wanted.
The 23-year-old was seeded 24th at the tournament and had received a first-round bye, but the illness she picked up back in February during the Transylvania Open in Romania has simply refused to clear. She pulled out on Monday, and her ranking has since slipped from 23rd to 26th on the WTA Tour.

On the commercial side, Enna Raducanu made a big move by signing with Uniqlo as a brand ambassador, becoming the first female tennis player to be sponsored by the Japanese brand.
She left Nike, her apparel partner since the age of 15, in a deal reported to be worth upwards of $3 million annually. The partnership puts her alongside Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the Uniqlo family.Emma Raducanu has been linked to a handful of high-profile names over the years, though she has always kept the details close. Her most public relationship was with Carlo Agostinelli, the son of billionaire financier Robert Agostinelli, which came to light during Paris Fashion Week in September 2023 when the two were photographed together at a Dior show.
They split in 2024.In 2025, she was linked to Carlos Alcaraz after the two paired up for mixed doubles at the US Open. Both shut it down clearly. "We're just good friends," she told reporters at Wimbledon. As of early 2026, Raducanu seems to be single and has been unbothered about all the speculation. She told The Guardian, "I know, I guess it comes with the territory, people being so curious. I just keep myself to myself."Born in Toronto to a Romanian father and Chinese mother, she moved to London at the age of two.
Her parents were strict about focus and discipline, and she has said openly that boyfriends were simply not allowed when she was younger. "My parents were very much against it as it interfered with training," she told The Times. "A lot of the time I was very resentful. But it made me very confident and comfortable in my own company, which is also a big strength.
"Outside tennis, Raducanu is known for her love of Formula 1, her support of Tottenham Hotspur and the fact that she speaks three languages fluently: English, Mandarin, and Romanian. She was awarded an MBE by King Charles III in 2021 following her US Open win. At 23, with most of her career still ahead of her, the numbers and the story are only going to get bigger.
