Gumla: Ahead of Diwali, several underprivileged in Gumla got their biggest gift as administration during its weekly Anchal (circle) Diwas this time solved many land disputes. For example, a PVTG Birhor community Magdali Birhor is happy as her decade long family land dispute was settled.
A resident of Birhor colony in Palkot block, she said, "A chunk of my land had several claims as my in-laws too had staked claim. For years, I was struggling but it got solved now. I have received an official paper of my plot’s ownership." Pramila Nooram of Raidih block got caste certificate which was pending for several months.Notably, Anchal Diwas was rolled out in July this year to hold janta darbars at circle office levels to solve pending disputes.
The first phase covering all 12 circle offices concluded on Oct 11. It was held every Saturday. On the initiative, DC Prerna Dixit said, “The objective is to sort out the land and other matters of people nearest their habitations so that they don’t need to visit the district office. The move is also part of improving governance at grassroots level.
” She added, “We managed to solve a slew of issues ranging from land, to mutation, agriculture loan, natural disaster and caste, income and residential certificates etc.” During the first phase of the drive, 933 cases were received across all 12 circle offices of which 746 were resolved on the spot and the rest 187 are in the process.
