Gumla administration registers 4,164 workers for linking to social welfare schemes

Gumla: As many as 4,164 workers were registered by the district officials here during a three-month long drive to bring them under the safety net of several social security schemes.

Notably, thousands of men migrate to other parts of the country for work every year."Of the 4,164 registered, 1,989 are construction workers, 1,781 working in the unorganised sector, and 394 migrant workers," said Gumla labour superintendent Dhirendra Mahato. "The three-month campaign continued from July to September by organising labour registration cum awareness camps in all the 12 blocks," he said.Notably, the workers will not be covered under various govt schemes such as Asangathit Karmakar Mrityu and Durghatna Sahayata Yojna, Matritva Sahayata Yojna, Antheshti Sahayak Yojna, Kaushal Unnayan Yojna, Upchar Aajivika Yojna, among others. Gumla deputy commissioner Prerna Dixit said, "We have successfully conducted labour registration camps across all blocks, ensuring the inclusion of tribal and migrant workers under welfare schemes.

The drive strengthened social security coverage and reflected the administration’s commitment to inclusive and welfare-oriented governance."
