As floodwaters from the Krishna River enter the Prakasam Barrage following heavy rains due Cyclone Montha, Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu has advised city residents to boil the water before drikning for the next two to three days.
The Commissioner said in a statement on Thursday (October 30) that due to the inflow of muddy water into the Prakasam Barrage, the turbidity levels in the water supply have increased. He assured that the GMC Head Water Works is continuously monitoring and maintaining prescribed standards of alum and chlorine levels to ensure safe water supply across the city.
Mr. Srinivasulu further instructed the officials concerned to collect at least 10 drinking water samples from their respective limits and conduct chlorine level checks to ensure quality compliance.
He also urged citizens to remain vigilant and immediately report any cases of contaminated water supply or pipeline leakages by calling the GMC helpline number 0863-2345103.
