The woman, seen dangling her feet over the front windshield while allegedly filming herself, was captured on video by someone in a vehicle behind the Thar. The footage quickly went viral on social media sparking widespread condemnation.
Police have confirmed that the woman involved in the stunt have been identified and legal action is underway. The video, reportedly filmed near the IFFCO flyover, has raised concerns over growing instances of dangerous road behaviour for the sake of online attention.
Speaking to NDTV, Sandeep Kumar, the Public Relations Officer of Gurugram Police, said, “A video has come to the attention of Gurugram Police through social media. In this video, a young woman can be seen performing a stunt while sitting on the roof of a Thar SUV. Gurugram Police is currently investigating the matter. This video is reported to be from near the IFFCO flyover. Legal action will be taken by the police."
Authorities have warned that such stunts pose a serious risk not only to the people involved but also to other road users. The police have issued a fresh appeal urging the public not to engage in such acts, especially on highways and expressways.
“Stunts have been performed by people on the National Highway and the Dwarka Expressway as well, and almost all of them have been arrested," Kumar added.
In a related incident, a 22-car convoy recently caused traffic disruption in Gurugram while allegedly shooting reels for social media. The group, which included luxury vehicles like a Mercedes-Benz convertible, blocked a major intersection near Sector 108 and the Dwarka Expressway on Sunday evening.
Videos of the incident showed men standing on the seats of the convertible while others filmed them. Several vehicles were seen making illegal U-turns and fleeing in the wrong direction after the shoot. Residents reported that some of the vehicles had illegal sirens that added to the chaos.
While no formal complaint has been filed, Gurugram Police confirmed they are aware of the incident and are monitoring social media for leads.
