How to verify
- Visit the official FOSCOS portal: https://foscos.fssai.gov.in (foscos.fssai.gov.in in Bing)
- Click on “FBO Search” (Food Business Operator Search).
- Enter details such as the restaurant name, licence/registration number, state, and district.
- The portal will display:
- Licence number and type
- Validity period
- Registered address of the food business
- You can also cross-check the 14-digit FSSAI number, which usually appears on bills, menus, or food delivery apps.
Extra tip
If the portal shows that a food outlet is operating without a valid FSSAI licence, you can report it directly to local food safety officers through the same portal.
