Trump said that Hamas will be forced to disarm if they do not disarm on their own and it should take place in a “reasonable period of time”.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that Hamas will be forced to disarm if they do not disarm on their own.

“If they don’t disarm, we will disarm them and it will happen quickly and perhaps violently," he told reporters. “But they will disarm, do you understand me?" he added, saying it should take place in a “reasonable period of time".

Earlier in the day, the US President announced the beginning of the phase two of ceasefire deal.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said: “ALL TWENTY HOSTAGES ARE BACK AND FEELING AS GOOD AS CAN BE EXPECTED. A big burden has been lifted, but the job IS NOT DONE. THE DEAD HAVE NOT BEEN RETURNED, AS PROMISED! Phase Two begins right NOW!!!"

The group of 20 Israeli hostages returned home on Monday as part of a US-backed ceasefire deal.

As the hostages were released by Hamas, Trump on Tuesday declared the end of the two-year-long war that had upended the broader Middle East.

In a video released on Tuesday, Hamas showed execution of eight blindfolded, bound and kneeling men for being “collaborators and outlaws".

Though the ceasefire and partial Israeli withdrawal agreed last week halted one of Israel’s biggest offensives of the war, an all-out assault on Gaza City that was killing scores of people per day, formidable obstacles remain.

Among the immediate issues still to be resolved are recovering the remains of the deceased hostages.

On Tuesday, Israel on Tuesday informed the United Nations that it will allow only 300 aid trucks, which is half of the number that was agreed, to enter Gaza from Wednesday.

According to Reuters, no fuel or gas will be allowed into the enclave except for specific needs related to humanitarian infrastructure.
