Haryana Minister Gaurav Gautam was briefly stuck in an elevator at the Haryana Secretariat in Chandigarh on Wednesday. The lift resumed working after five minutes.

Haryana Minister Gaurav Gautam was on Wednesday stuck inside an elevator with several others for nearly five minutes.

The incident happened at the Haryana Secretariat in Chandigarh, where the elevator briefly malfunctioned.

A video of Gautam inside the lift with others was widely shared on social media.

Another person with the minister could be heard saying that it would take nearly half an hour for the elevator to function again.

Those inside the lift, however, stepped out after five minutes.

On May 26, a man, identified as Rishi Bhatnagar, died after he suffered a heart attack as his eight-year-old son was stuck inside an elevator for a few minutes due to a power cut.

The incident happened in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

Earlier, a minor boy got trapped inside an elevator in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad after he randomly pressed multiple buttons and attempted to force open the door of the lift while it was functioning.

He was rescued some time later after a technician arrived.

In another case from Mumbai, a magistrate’s court sentenced to four months’ imprisonment a man whose pet dog had bitten a neighbour inside a lift of his residential building in Worli area.

The decision came seven years after the incident.
