Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is busy with his next directorial, ‘Coolie,’ starring Rajinikanth, said that it was a personal film that had no connection to his cinematic universe. 'Coolie' is scheduled to be released on August 14, and the expectations are peaking as it nears release.
Latest reports claimed that Kamal Haasan is part of 'Coolie,' and this raised LCU buzz over the Rajinikanth starrer. In a recent interview with Bhardwaj Rangan, Lokesh Kanagaraj pointed out, “This is not like 'Vikram'; this is a separate film. It doesn’t fit into my universe.”
Lokesh Kanagaraj shuts down speculations
Lokesh Kanagaraj also firmly stated that he had no desire to involve Kamal Haasan in the film's production. But he has explained that if the time comes for Rajini and Kamal to come together in the same film, he is ready to go and see the film to make it happen, and that this is not a proper swap for 'Vikram' and 'Coolie.'
"Vikram should not be done by Rajini sir; similarly, 'Coolie' should not be done by Kamal sir. Because these stories were written for them.
It would not be fair to include anyone else in this, like a treasure," he said emotionally.
Lokesh recalls Rajinikanth’s instant nod
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter a couple of months ago, Lokesh shared how Rajinikanth agreed to work on the film 'Coolie,' which was well-received by fans. “I told him half of the story, not the whole story. During the break, I asked him, Sir, are you interested in this? He immediately said ‘yes.’ At that time, I hadn’t written the second half. When I came back with the full story two months later, he really liked it," he said.
