Hazaribag: A 35-year-old farmer in Katkamsandi block lost his right hand in a thresher machine in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. Sanika Munda was threshing his own paddy crop in the machine when a part of his right hand got stuck in the machine.
Sanika is a resident Barikola Jhojha village.Locals said Sanika spent the day threshing crops of other village residents in the machine. It was only during late evening he started threshing his own paddy when the machine’s blades chopped off his right hand below the elbow. The severed hand got stuck in the machine before being crushed into pieces.He was admitted to Sheikha Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital in the early hours of Tuesday. Dr A K Purti, medical superintendent at the hospital, said, “The patient was later referred to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi as his condition was critical.”
