Vibhu Puri told the Mid Day, "We are currently in the writing stage, exploring the characters and [their] storylines." He went on to add that people had a doubt if the show would work with the current generation or not. The writer expressed that everyone wondered if they "would understand it, but they embraced the world of Heeramandi."Puri went on to add that the shooting of the series will start soon.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the show starred Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Segal. The series was released in May 2024 and went on to become one of the biggest successes of the streaming platform.Set in Lahore's Heera Mandi red-light district during the Indian independence movement, this series chronicles the lives of tawaifs (courtesans) as they navigate political upheaval and personal struggles under British colonial rule.
The web series ended with the courtesans of Heeramandi participating in the freedom struggle. Reportedly, the upcoming season will revolve around their displacement as they move to the Hindi and Bengali film industries. As Aditi Rao Hydari and Richa Chadha died in the show, the makers are planning to add new faces to the upcoming season.The show also featured Taha Shah Badussha, Farida Jalal, Adhyayan Suman, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, Indresh Malik, Jason Shah, Jayati Bhatia, Nivedita Bhargava, Abha Ranta, Vaishnavi Ganatra, Shruti Sharma, and Rajat Kaul.
