History sheeter murdered near Tiruchi

A history sheeter was murdered by some persons at Kilikoodu on the outskirts of Tiruchi in the late hours on Thursday. 

The police gave the name of the deceased as P. Ashok Kumar, 40, of Kilikoodu. He was named an accused in the murder of Prakash in 2022.

The police sources said some friends of Prakash organised a kabbadi match at Kilikoodu recently in his memory. Ashok Kumar, who was reportedly inebriated and armed with a sword, reportedly argued with Ponnusamy whose sons had helped in organising the match.

This led to an argument and a group of persons nearby allegedly attacked Ashok Kumar using sharp weapons apparently due to sudden provocation killing him on the spot, the sources said. The Kollidam police have detained five persons in connection with the murder case.
