Holiday for educational institutions on June 6

The State government has declared a holiday for educational institutions, including professional colleges, on Friday. 

A press release issued by the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s Office did not assign any reason for the decision. 

However, it came in the wake of Indian Union Muslim League and Congress demanding that the government reinstate the Bakrid Holiday marked in the administration annual calendar on Friday. 

The government had shifted the Bakrid holiday to June 7, adhering to the Islamic religious calendar. It declared that June 7 (Saturday) will be a holiday for all government offices in Kerala, including all Public Sector Undertakings, all educational institutions, including professional colleges under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
