Hazardous air quality, dense smog, and a rise in respiratory illness - it's the same story every winter in Delhi. On the other hand, China's capital, Beijing, once notorious as the "smog capital of the world", has improved its air quality in just over a decade. With the air quality staying severe for most of the week, the Chinese embassy has offered help to Delhi by posting a step-by-step guide on how Beijing tackled pollution.
In an extensive post on X, along with before and after images of Beijing, Chinese embassy spokesperson Yu Jing underscored that both China and India know the struggle with air pollution amid rapid urbanisation.
"While the challenge remains complex, China's sustained efforts over the past decade have delivered noticeable improvements," Jing tweeted, along with a series of steps to control vehicle emissions and industrial restructuring.
