It was while studying at a residential school in Ladakh that Chhonzin Angmo first came across the story of US paraclimber Erik Weihenmayer, who became the first visually impaired man to climb Mt Everest in 2001.

The story never left Angmo, who had lost her eyesight at age eight. It fuelled a dream: of becoming the first visually impaired woman from India to achieve the same feat.
