Incessant downpour in Haryana’s Gurugram has completely thrown life out of gear as the vehicles struggled to move on the waterlogged roads.

From streets to highways, the cars were seen queuing in almost 7-8km long traffic jams. Videos shared on social media showed hundreds of vehicles sluggishly moving on the waterlogged NH-48. Key roads, including IFFCO Chowk, Signature Tower, Galleria Market, Mahavir Chowk and Tulip Chowk, are completely inundated due to non-stop downpour.

Gurugram and other parts of Delhi-NCR received heavy rains on Monday, triggering traffic snarls across various parts of the city. People have been advised not to leave their homes for any travel due to flooded roads.

With more rain predicted Tuesday, a fresh advisory was issued for Gurugram urging all corporate offices and private institutions to allow employees to work from home (WFH), and directing schools to shift to online classes due to heavy rain forecasts.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier in the day issued an Orange Alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Gurugram on Tuesday.

Congress Workers Protest

Meanwhile, Congress workers protest against the BJP-led state government amid severe waterlogging in Gurugram following heavy rainfall, with District Congress President (Urban) Pankaj Dawar saying, “Change the name of the city from Gurugram to ‘Talabgram’… The city is drowning… The water has not been drained since 1 hour… How much corruption will the government do? It has done the highest corruption in history…"

CM Saini Holds Meeting

Further, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini held a meeting with all the District Deputy Commissioners and reviewed the situation arising due to more than normal and continuous rains.
