A 22-year-old migrant woman in Gujarat’s Modasa, took her life after her husband denied her a new mobile phone.

The incident took place on Saturday. The victim, identified as Urmila, used to run a Chinese food business along with her husband. According to sources, the woman asked her husband for a new mobile phone a few days ago. However, the man denied, citing financial difficulties.

The denial led to a fallout between the husband and wife, and as a result, the woman decided to take her life by hanging herself at her home.

The death caused a stir among the neighbours who gathered outside the home of the couple. The local police were informed soon, and upon receiving the information, they rushed to the spot as soon as possible.

The police recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem. They also registered a case of accidental death.

As the investigation has proceeded, it has come to light that both the couple were from Nepal and were living in Gujarat to earn their livelihood.

The police, at present, are continuing with further investigation and probing all the angles.
