Hyderabad-based NGO, Unicorpus Health Foundation marked its 10th anniversary by launching an affordable intensive care unit (ICU) at the Unicorpus Word and Deed Hospital in Pedda Amberpet, Hayathnagar, on Saturday. The ICU facility has been named after physician Iris Paul.
“Unaffordable critical care often forces families into debt and pushes many into poverty. The new ICU was introduced to address this gap in access,” the NGO said in a release.
The hospital offers speciality and super speciality consultations along with in-patient, surgical and rehabilitation services at rates aimed at serving marginalised communities. Over the past decade, the NGO has treated more than 40,000 patients. In the last three years, the hospital has performed over 500 surgeries, including more than 50 cataract procedures, and provided physiotherapy and rehabilitation services to over 800 patients.
