When Jimmy Butler touched down in San Francisco via a blockbuster trade in early 2025, the Warriors’ fans were holding their breath. With no idea how Butler's addition to the roster would pan out.
One year later, the answer is a positive one. Butler hasn't just joined the Warriors, he has brought with him his witty nature, grit, and defensive edge that helped the team on both ends of the court. His presence on the court helps the team in evenly distributing the pressure and re-centring the play when things do not seem to go their way. The 6-time NBA All-Star, in a recent slip shared on social media, is seen in a battle of wit with a reporter who asked him, “How do players deal with aging and becoming stiff?” The interaction set the social media ablaze with its candidness.
Jimmy Butler thinks he can still jump
In a clip shared by 95.7 The Game on X from Warriors vs. Knicks, Jimmy Butler was asked about the key to staying fit while getting older, to which he replied, “I’m not old, first of all.” This comment earned some laughs from the crowd. Continuing, Butler said, “Just take care of your body. Keep doing what you have been doing to reach this point. Stretching, recovery, lots of sleep, which I am missing out on cause I got kids. But I’ll sacrifice some sleep to hug and hold my babies.
That’s it, man.”But Butler made sure that reporters knew he was still athletic, “I am still a little bit athletic. Don’t get use to it, but I can jump a little bit.”
Even at 36, Jimmy Butler is lightning fast and agile on the basketball court. Emphasizing recovery as a crucial element for longevity and keeping up with everyone, Butler said, “I’m gonna go home and sleep. Ice these knees, joints, and all that good stuff. And have me a beer.
That’s part of my recovery.”
Jimmy Butler’s synergy with Golden State Warriors
The Bay Area fans since day 1 have noticed Butler’s willingness to be Robin to Stephen Curry’s Batman, which silenced any concerns about locker room ego clashes. Instead of friction, there is a mutual respect among the league's highest-IQ veterans. In 2026, the Warriors have some of the league’s most talented, smart, and tough veterans on their roster. In Warriors vs Knicks, Jimmy Butler was on fire. In his 32 minutes on the court, he dropped in 32 points, made 8 rebounds, and 4 assists while shooting 13 times from the field and once from beyond the three-point line. This season, he’s averaging 20.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 51.9% FGM. He’s also averaging 3.3 defensive rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. Also read: The 21-year old Anthony Black announced himself to Europe with a brutal poster dunk in Berlin against Gri
