Cardi B and Stefon Diggs are gearing up for the new season of the NFL but the Grammy winner had to deal with a legal mess before that. In the last few days, Cardi B was often spotted at court as she was on trial for an assault that a security guard had filed against her and sued her for $24 million.
While the case has gone in Cardi B’s favour, a recent question about the Grammy winner’s ethnicity has sparked outrage among fans.
Cardi B was asked about her ethnicity and fans are furious about it
A few days ago, Cardi B had appeared for the trial that security guard Emani Ellis had sued her for. While Cardi B was on trial for alleged assaulting and scratching the guard in 2018, she had strongly denied such claims.
As the questions were ongoing, a question asked by the opposition’s lawyer to Cardi B has raised many eyebrows. The opposition’s lawyer had asked Cardi B, “Do you consider yourself African American?”To this, Cardi B smartly replied, “I consider myself Afro Caribbean”. While Cardi B has not commented on this publicly, it has sparked outrage as many feel such questions have no relevance in her trial.A fan by the username @stuncalis wrote, “back to these questions… why are they asking her this?”Another fan by the username @realdavidonline wrote, “you’d think this was an immigration case with the type of questions the lawyer asked”.

A third fan by the username @maxconpain posted, “I have never listened to her music but I truly admire this woman. Every time I hear her speak I am impressed. She’s very smart!”Another fan by the username @BLJLEE wrote, “do people not know that there are black people outside of the US??? I am an example of that. I am not American therefore I can’t call myself African American. I’m a black woman from the Caribbean/Afro Caribbean what’s so hard to understand?”
Cardi B has always proudly spoken of her roots, as she now gears up to be with Stefon Diggs
Cardi B has always maintained about being Afro Carribean descent.
In 2019, she opened up about it on Instagram stories and said, “I’m not Mexican at all. I’m West Indian, and I’m Dominican. I speak Spanish because I’m Dominican.” She added, “And it’s like, bro, my features don’t come from white people, okay? And they always wanna race-bait when it comes to me…I have Afro features.”With Cardi B winning the trial, the Grammy winner can now focus on the release of her new album and cheering on Stefon Diggs as the new season begins. Also Read: "This is a HIPAA violation": Cardi B's $24M courtroom drama sparks outrage as fans urge her to countersue
