"I just don’t know that the East has any teams" - Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green is all in West supremacy

The NBA league features the Eastern and Western Conferences, and the dominance of one over the other is a significant aspect of the game. In the last decade, one has had a slight edge over the other, especially one particular team, and maybe that is why, veteran player Draymond Green recently commented on how the West has a much better chance to win the league than the East.

Especially hinting at the Golden State Warriors, who have won the league 4 times in the last 10 years. But can they win it this season?

Draymond Green's bias for Western Conference

In the last 10 years, 4 different teams from the East have won the league - the Boston Celtics, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Toronto Raptors, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The West, on the other hand, came out on top 6 times. Add to that, the Golden State Warriors have won the title 4 times all by themselves, and the Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder have won it once each.

So, maybe statistically, Draymond Green is not too far off in claiming the West's dominance in the league compared to its opponent.

“Quite honestly, I just don’t know that the East has any teams that can compete at a championship level with the teams at the top of the West. Obviously, Boston being down right now I think plays a huge role in that. The Cavs haven’t been able to show that. Darius Garland ain’t playing, so you know, obviously DG get back, you need to see how all of that comes back together, right?”Top teams from the Eastern Conference, like the Celtics, Cavaliers, or the Knicks, are currently replete with injuries, while the West is having a pretty good time - especially when you look at teams like the Warriors, Thunder, Nuggets, or the Los Angeles Lakers. But does that really mean the East is completely out of the equation?

Golden State Warriors had a splendid start to the season

The Golden State Warriors started the 2025-26 NBA season with a bang.

Right from the preseason, the team has shown a strong hand, having won 3 out of their 5 games, before the regular season began. Even then, they won their first two games against the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets, before losing a game to the Portland Trailblazers, coincidentally a team from the East. The team then went on to win their match against the Memphis Grizzlies and will be facing the Los Angeles Clippers at home next. They are the favorites to win the match, but in a ball game, you never really know what can happen. Draymond Green obviously had his faith in his team, not just for the game, but even for the season - but that's a long way to go, and fans can't wait to enjoy each and every moment of it.Also Read: NBA icon Draymond Green screams “Shut Up” after flagrant foul on Santi Aldama in Golden State Warriors’ win over Memphis Grizzlies
