Arsenal star Bukayo Saka lauded compatriot Lando Norris on his maiden Formula One title as the McLaren driver etched his name in history books with his awe-inspiring campaign, which saw him end Max Verstappen’s stranglehold of the title.

Saka touched up on his admiration of Norris and said that he’d be delighted to take him up on his offer of showing the Gunners star around the McLaren HQ.

“I’ve actually met Saka once, but I’d love to see him again. And obviously I would love to invite him down to McLaren, if he wants to come and have a little tour. Personal tour. I’ll take him around. But I love Saka," the McLaren driver had said.

“I love that. He’s a world champion as well. So congrats of course Lando. He deserve it. He earned it," Saka said in response.

“Yeah, man. I’m open. I’ll go down there, say hello to him and yeah, it’d be nice to spend the day with him for sure," the Gunners winger replied.

Norris had read aloud an opinion of a fan who likened the two sporting superstars, “If Lando Norris, McLaren driver, were a Premier League footballer, he would be Bukayo Saka. Both Norris and Saka are known for their speed, agility, and dynamic style."

“Much like Norris’ quick reflexes on track, Saka’s ability to accelerate past defenders and create scoring opportunities is akin to the precision and prowess that Norris shows in Formula 1," the fan mail said.

“Additionally both individuals possess a youthful energy and charismatic presence, making them stand out both on and off the field and the track," it continued.

Norris clinched his first F1 title with a third-place finish at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, narrowly beating four-time champion Max Verstappen in a thrilling showdown.

Norris accumulated 423 points over the season, surpassing Verstappen’s 421 points for Red Bull, thus securing the championship crown. Norris admitted that the taste of victory is addictive but emphasized his intention to enjoy the moment rather than getting ahead of himself.

Despite Verstappen’s determined effort to close the 102-point gap from earlier in the season, the Brit ultimately prevailed, thanks to a strong performance throughout the year. In stark contrast, Norris’s fellow Briton, Lewis Hamilton, experienced his first season without a podium finish during his debut campaign with Ferrari.

Next season, Norris will sport the No.1, a prestige reserved for the reigning champion, while Verstappen will have to relinquish the number to the Brit.
