Malayalam actress and television presenter Jewel Mary has strongly reacted to misleading social media posts that falsely claim she is battling a severe health crisis. The actress clarified that reports suggesting she lost her voice due to cancer and is in critical condition are entirely untrue.

Jewel, known for her performances in films like 'Pathemari', emphasised that she is healthy and leading a normal life after successfully overcoming cancer.

Old Cancer revelation sparks fresh misinformation

Addressing the issue through a video message, Jewel explained that the rumours originated from comments she had made publicly about her cancer diagnosis back in 2023. According to the actress, snippets from those old statements are now being circulated online with deceptive captions, creating a false narrative about her present condition.

She said, “I wanted to clarify something that has come to my attention over the last two days. I'm not dead, everyone! Some people have been spreading stories saying I've lost my voice, that I'm bedridden waiting for death, and that I can't even move. But I'm very much alive.”The actress further pointed out that the content being shared online is not recent and relates to a chapter of her life that she has already overcome.

“In 2023, I spoke publicly about the cancer I had. Some online users have now taken those old statements and are sharing them with misleading captions, making it seem as though I'm in that condition today,” she added. Jewel stressed that the claims do not reflect her current reality and urged people to verify information before spreading it online.The viral posts led to widespread confusion, prompting numerous well-wishers to reach out to the actress.

Jewel revealed that family members, close friends and fans had been contacting her continuously after coming across the alarming reports. The actress said she felt compelled to address the rumours publicly after seeing the anxiety they had caused among those close to her.
