VARANASI: A two-day joint symposium between the Indian Institute of Technology-BHU and Niigata University, Japan, organised as part of the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening academic and research collaboration between the two institutions, concluded at the CFDET Committee Room of the institute on Tuesday.During their visit, the Japanese delegation toured various laboratories and departments of IIT-BHU. As part of cultural immersion activities, they also visited Sarnath and the Ghats of Varanasi, gaining insights into the historical and cultural heritage of the region.The two-day symposium discussed ways and issues to further intensify mutual collaboration and foster new opportunities in advanced research, student exchange, and academic development between the two institutions.Rakesh Kumar Singh, Coordinator of the Symposium, informed that the purpose of the MoU is to promote exchange and cooperation in education, joint research activities, organisation of lectures and symposiums, and exchange of students and faculty members. He added that such academic partnerships not only strengthen institutional links but also bring the two friendly nations closer through shared knowledge and cultural understanding.
He further highlighted that under this collaboration, six faculty members and ten students from IIT (BHU) visited Niigata University for educational and research engagements. Similarly, seven members from Niigata University and one faculty member from Kobe University, Japan, visited IIT (BHU) for academic interactions and discussions on ongoing and future research projects.
