The new lightweight champion said he controlled most of the fight and believed the result was decisive. While praising Topuria’s talent and toughness, Gaethje argued that the former champion must rebuild his position before earning another title opportunity. He added that Topuria remains one of the division’s most dangerous fighters but insisted that a second meeting should not happen right away.
For now, Topuria begins the first rebuilding phase of his career, while Gaethje starts his reign as undisputed lightweight champion.
