Singer and actor Imaichi Ryuji is currently under investigation for the assault of a taxi driver. Reports claim that he was under the influence of alcohol and even threatened the driver.

According to The Japan News report, a member of popular J-pop group Sandaime J Soul Brothers is under investigation after he allegedly threatened a taxi driver and said that he would k*** him, as well as for physically assaulting him. Metropolitan Police Department’s Yoyogi Police Station shared that the incident happened in the early hours of the day back in April.Reportedly, he had been inside the taxi at the time and had punched the acrylic sheet that separates the driver and passengers.

Thereafter, he proceeded to pull the driver’s arm back through the acrylic and had threatened to end his life as well. A report was filed against the singer on the same day of the assault, followed by an investigation.No injuries were also reported from the driver’s end for the ride that lasted approximately 10 minutes. The idol has shared his side of the incident, saying that he had been talking to someone else before getting into the taxi, and had been in an angry and irritated state at the time of the assault.

This is also not the first time that Ryuji has found himself at the centre of legal trouble. In 2020, according to Shukan Bunshun records, he had taken a glass of alcohol at a karaoke bar and had thrown it at a woman in Ishigaki, Japan, whom he had picked up as well. He had been in an inebriated state at this time as well. Fans of his and the J-pop group have been shocked at the incident. nO other updates about the case have been shared with the public so far.
