The India Meteorological Department on Monday issued an orange warning for Mumbai, cautioning residents of a thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and moderate to intense spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 kmph at isolated places. The alert, issued at 7 am, is valid for three hours till 10 am.
The IMD has forecast scattered showers accompanied by gusty winds across Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts over the next few days, with a yellow alert in place for all these districts. The monsoon is likely to become fully active across the region from June 25.
