The BJP has demanded the government to immediately take up distribution of uniforms and textbooks with educational institutions that are about to reopen next week.
Party MLC A.V.N. Reddy told a press conference here on Thursday that 75% of government schools lack basic facilities, 39% do not have boundary walls and 23% do not have sufficient classrooms.
Similarly, there are no toilets in most schools leading to dropouts especially among girl students, he said and urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to live up to his promise to ensure proper toilets and cleanliness in schools to improve enrolments.
The CM should also release the pending Dearness Allowance to teachers and the retirement benefits should be settled without any further delay, he added.
