India began their Badminton Asia Junior Mixed Team Championships with a 110-69 win over Sri Lanka in Group D.

India started their Badminton Asia Junior Mixed Team Championships campaign emphatically with a 110-69 victory over Sri Lanka in their Group D opener in Solo, Indonesia, on Friday.

The mixed doubles team of Vishnu Kode and Reshika U began India’s dominance with an 11-5 win over Keneth Aruggoda and Isuri Attanayake in the relay point system, where a team must accumulate 110 points to win the match.

Sisters Gayatri and Mansa Rawat then extended India’s lead to 22-14 against Attanayake and Sithumi De Silva. Junior world number one Tanvi Sharma showcased her prowess against Sithuli Ranasinghe, pushing India’s score to 33-21.

No Indian singles player or pair lost any 11-point relay, and by the halfway mark, India had secured a 55-31 lead.

What’s Next?

India will next face the United Arab Emirates on Saturday, followed by a match against Hong Kong China on Sunday, which could determine the top position in the group standings.
