In a groundbreaking initiative, India Post is rolling out 'Generation Z post offices' throughout Bihar, beginning with IIT-Patna. These innovative outlets are designed to engage the youth, integrating modern technology with conventional postal services.
Aurangabad: In a first-of-its-kind move aimed at making postal services youth-centric, India Post is planning to open more Gen Z post offices in Bihar. The first “Gen Z post office” was recently opened at IIT-Patna.The initiative marks a major step towards reshaping traditional postal services to match the expectations, lifestyle and digital behaviour of the younger generation, said Bihar’s chief postmaster general M U Abdali on Monday while launching several new schemes and services of India Post at a programme in Aurangabad. He added that one Gen Z post office would be opened in Aurangabad also.Abdali said, “Today’s youth look for speed, digital access and convenience.
The Gen Z post office has been designed keeping these expectations in mind,” he said. The new model aims to bring students and young professionals closer to postal services by offering modern, tech-enabled features alongside traditional services such as mail handling and savings schemes. India Post believes that setting up the post office inside an educational hub will make it more accessible to young users who may otherwise remain detached from postal services, he said.“If post offices reach students, they will not only understand the system better but will also be more willing to adopt the evolving digital services of India Post,” Abdali added.
