After India Champions dramatically secured a spot in the semi-finals of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) with a last-gasp victory over West Indies Champions team, the tournament found itself in the middle of a fresh controversy. This was because the Pakistan Champions team are on top of the standings while India Champions ended fourth, meaning the two arch-rivals are scheduled to play in a semi-final clash on Thursday.

But will the India vs Pakistan match go ahead? After all, India Champions had refused to play against Pakistan Champions due to the recent terror attack at Pahalgam. That terror attack had led to escalation of conflict between India and Pakistan.

Now, EaseMyTrip, one of the top sponsors of the World Championship of Legends has said it will not back the India vs Pakistan game.

Nishant Pitti, the founder of EaseMyTrip, posted their stance on X, publicly stating that they will not be supporting the India vs Pakistan clash in the semi-finals of the World Championship of Legends. Pitti said that as an organisation they believe that “terror and cricket cannot go hand in hand.”

“We applaud Team India for their outstanding performance in the World Championship of Legends, you’ve made the nation proud. However, the upcoming semi-final against Pakistan is not just another game. Terror and cricket cannot go hand in hand. At EaseMyTrip, we stand with India. We cannot support any event that attempts to normalise relations with a country that promotes terrorism.

Festive offer

He added: “The people of India have spoken and we hear them. EaseMyTrip will not be associated with the India vs Pakistan match in WCL. Some things are bigger than sport. Nation first, business later. Always. Jai Hind.”

Besides the India vs Pakistan game, the second semi-final will be played between South Africa and Australia.

It was that point that helped India make the semi-finals of the six-team tournament after languishing at the bottom of the table for the whole tournament since they were winless until Tuesday’s victory.
