External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday issued a strong warning to Pakistan, asserting that India will not be intimidated by any “nuclear threat" and reaffirming the country’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism.

In his remarks at the Convocation Ceremony for foreign national graduates of a private university in Vadodara, Jaishankar noted that those who sponsor and use terrorism face a heavy cost.

“India will never give in to nuclear blackmail," said Jaishankar, adding: “It is imperative that those who sponsor, and utilise services of terrorism pay high cost."

Though no country was named directly, Jaishankar’s remarks are viewed as a veiled reference to Pakistan amid rising geopolitical tensions and its ongoing rhetoric on nuclear deterrence.

Jaishankar also highlighted India’s expanding role in global affairs, saying, “India is a rare civilisational state reclaiming its rightful place in the comity of nations."

He underscored the country’s rising geopolitical aspirations, driven by its economic progress, strategic alliances, and influential position within the Global South.

India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ in response to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, which claimed 26 lives in Kashmir.

As part of the operation, India targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir two weeks later, leading to a four-day military standoff between the two countries.
