DC forms expert panel to probe allegations of medical negligence over girl’s death at MIMS

The Mandya district administration has constituted an expert committee to investigate allegations of medical negligence following the death of a seven-year-old girl at the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS).

The victim, Sanvi, a resident of Nelluru village in Malavalli taluk, reportedly died while undergoing treatment at MIMS. Her death has triggered serious allegations of lapses in medical care, prompting action from the authorities.

The district administration has appointed a panel of senior medical professionals to conduct a detailed inquiry. Pradeep, head of the Pediatric Department at Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, will head the committee.

The panel also includes Mahesh, head of the Orthopaedics Department at B.G. Nagar, Nagamangala taluk, Balakrishna, head of the Surgical Department, and Chetanananda, head of the Anaesthesia Department.

Somasekhar, District Tuberculosis Control Officer, will serve as the member-secretary, according to a press release from the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Deputy Commissioner Kumar has directed the committee to submit its findings within 15 days and assured that necessary action would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
