Indian biker’s motorcycle stolen during world tour in Nottingham, UK; gifted a new one

Yogesh Alekari, a 33-year-old Indian biker from Navi Mumbai and a content creator, never imagined that on his solo world tour, his bike would get stolen! That too in Nottingham, the United Kingdom.

His adventure of a lifetime turned into a nightmare, when his motorcycle and most of his belongings were stolen in broad daylight. The incident left him shocked and sad. But to his surprise, he was gifted with a brand-new, upgraded motorcycle to replace the stolen one by the dealers in the UK.Let’s find out more:The incident Yogesh left for his solo adventure on May 1, 2025, on his fav KTM 390 Adventure. He left with the ambition to cover continents across the globe.

In about four months, he had already ridden through 17 countries and covered about 24,000 km. But on August 28, his bike along with his other possessions were stolen during the day in Nottingham.He had parked his bike at Wollaton Park and went inside a café for breakfast. When he came back, he saw that his bike, which was loaded with all his gear and essentials, was gone. He saw that the thieves had smashed a disc lock with a hammer.

It was not only the bike that was gone, his passport, credit cards, cash, riding gear, camera equipment, and several personal documents were gone. He suffered a total loss estimated at around £15,000 (INR 17,98,731).The incident was reported at Nottinghamshire Police. The police gave him a crime reference number but surprisingly no officers came to the scene. Alekari expressed irritation over this in interviews that followed and said “no safety for tourists” was provided.Community showed supportThe theft news soon went viral across social media. Several travel lovers, strangers and bikers across the globe backed his issue and offered moral support. Some even reached out with suggestions and assistance. His story highlighted the problems of solo travellers who often carry their entire lives on two wheels.Among those moved by his story was The Off Road Centre, which is a motorcycle dealership in Mansfield Woodhouse, UK.

I am truly speechless and grateful to everyone who stood by me in this difficult time.”For a solo rider, this generosity meant a lot. With a new machine, he can now resume his dream trip. Alekari’s ordeal and the kindness he received shows two significant realities of solo travel. First, the theft and loss of documents during travel is traumatic.
