According to officials, an Indian Coast Guard ship, which was on routine patrol, spotted the vessel and challenged it for identification. The boat attempted to flee towards the Pakistani side after being questioned.

However, the Coast Guard ship pursued, intercepted, and boarded the vessel while it was still within Indian territorial waters.
