A 27-year-old Indian expatriate, identified as Salman Fariz, was killed after a wall collapsed during heavy rains in Ras Al Khaimah. The incident took place amid an adverse weather situation in parts of the United Arab Emirates.

Salman used to work as a delivery agent at a cafeteria in Nakheel area of Ras Al Khaimah. He lost his life around 3 AM after a wall that was still being built collapsed on him, according to his employer and a social worker quoted by Gulf News.

Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collapse. The incident has sparked concern among Indian workers, particularly those living in low-lying areas or near construction sites.

Officials have advised residents to remain cautious during adverse weather conditions as safety checks continue.

Videos shared online showed vehicles submerged in water on roads in areas including Karama and Al Barsha.

The flight operations were also hit with Emirates and flydubai cancelling or rescheduling several flights due to the weather.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has predicted ongoing rainfall, with chances of thunderstorms, gusty winds and hail. It also warned of poor visibility and rough sea conditions along the coast.

In view of the situation, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) directed private sector firms in the affected regions to switch to remote work. Authorities in Abu Dhabi cancelled community events, while adventure activities at Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah were temporarily shut.

The weather department warned that unstable conditions may continue in the next few days and advised residents to stay alert, follow official instructions and keep track of emergency alerts and updates.
