Labour Minister and district-in-charge for Dharwad Santosh Lad inaugurated a newly-built Indira Canteen in Kalaghatagi town on September 1. He called upon the people to avail the benefit of getting quality food at affordable prices.
The Indira Canteen has been built at a cost of ₹87 lakh on the Kalaghatagi taluk panchayat premises.
Mr. Lad said that the canteen would benefit the poor, students and people who come to the taluk centre for various work in government offices. He said that kitchen materials had been procured at a cost of ₹43.67 lakh. The town panchayat’s SFC grant of ₹12.12 lakh had been utilised for construction of a compound wall and pavers.
Deputy Commisioner Divya Prabhu G.R.J., Chairman of district guarantee schemes implementation authority S.R. Patil, ZP CEO Bhuvanesh Patil, and Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya were among those present at the inauguration. Subsequently, the Minister had food at the Indira Canteen along with the officials and people who had turned up for the event.
