Indonesia’s Gede Priandana made history on Tuesday when he became the first bowler to take 5 wickets in an over in a T20I match. Priandana notched up the feat in Indonesia’s match vs Cambodia in the 1st T20I at Bali.
Cambodia were 106-5 needing 168 for victory when Priandana was called on to bowl the 16th over and the 28-year-old absolutely ran through the middle and lower order in a seven-ball over, handing the Indonesians a 60 run win.
The right-armer dismissed Shah Abrar Hussain, Nirmaljit Singh and Chanthoeun Rathanak in successive deliveries to complete his hat-trick and followed up with a dot ball. Priandana then removed Mongdara Sok and Pel Vennak with the last two legitimate deliveries of his over, separated by a wide, to bundle out Cambodia for 107.
Earlier, Dharma Kesuma slammed 110 runs which helped Indonesia post 167 runs. Etienne Beukes and Shah Abrar Hussain had taken 2 wickets each for Cambodia. Priandana had scored 6 off 11 while opening the batting for Indonesia.

Bangladesh’s Al-Amin Hossain and Indian Abhimanyu Mithun had claimed five wickets in an over in domestic T20 matches. There are 14 instances of bowlers claiming four wickets in an over in international matches, including Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga’s four in four balls against New Zealand in a T20 in 2019.
West Indies bowler Jason Holder also picked 4 in an over in 2022 against England while Ireland’s Curtis Campher also pulled off that feat against Netherlands in 2021. In the IPL, Yuzvendra Chahal and Andre Russell have also taken 4 wickets in an over for Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders against Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans respectively. Both of them notched up this feat in IPL 2022.
