Chris Eubank Jr has accused promoter Eddie Hearn and his Matchroom team of trying to “destroy” him before his first fight with Conor Benn. The British boxer told Daily Mail Sport that Hearn’s team broke rules, sabotaged weigh-ins, and even blocked an ambulance that was taking him to the hospital after the fight.
Eddie Hearn has denied all claims, calling Eubank “arrogant” and “delusional,” and said every accusation can be proven false with medical and event records.
Chris Eubank Jr calls Eddie Hearn a “scumbag” and claims sabotage
In his explosive interview with Daily Mail Sport, Chris Eubank Jr doubled down on his comments, calling Eddie Hearn a “scumbag” and accusing Matchroom of breaking every rule possible. He said Hearn’s team made unfair weight rules, fined him, and even interfered during the weigh-in.Eubank said after the fight, he was severely dehydrated, so much that one of his toenails fell off and needed medical help. He claimed that while lying in an ambulance with an oxygen mask on, the vehicle was blocked from leaving Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for 20 minutes. “If this had been a serious injury, that 20 minutes could’ve been the difference between life and death,” Chris Eubank told Daily Mail Sport.
He also said Hearn and Conor Benn spoke to reporters during that time, lying that he had a broken jaw.
Eubank added that he believes Matchroom would “do anything” to hurt him, from changing fight conditions to influencing officials. “When you’re dealing with crooks, they will do anything to break you,” he said.At the press conference for the upcoming rematch, things turned even worse. Eubank cut off Hearn while he was paying tribute to the late Ricky Hatton, shouting, “Come on Eddie, there’s no 30 seconds. You know the drill.” Hearn called Eubank an “a**hole,” and the two traded insults in front of the crowd. Eubank later said he meant no disrespect to Hatton and blamed Hearn for “using Ricky’s name to make me look bad.”
Eddie Hearn denies all accusations and calls Chris Eubank Jr “delusional”
Eddie Hearn strongly rejected all of Eubank’s claims in his own interview with Daily Mail Sport. He said the ambulance story was “the most bizarre lie” and that paramedic logs clearly prove nothing was blocked. “You cannot lie about me or my company stopping an ambulance,” Hearn said.
“There’s a record showing exactly what happened minute by minute.”
Eddie Hearn also said Chris Eubank’s claims about weigh-ins and contracts are false. He explained that Eubank missed the weight by 0.01 pounds and was an hour late because he was “scrolling Instagram” instead of focusing. “He’s just arrogant,” Hearn said. “I was disappointed to hear about his toenail. That was tragic.”Eddie Hearn also defended his tribute to Ricky Hatton, calling it heartfelt. “No one in this sport ever had a bad word to say about Ricky Hatton. He was a pure soul, a clean heart, a legend,” Hearn said.
