At around 9.30 a.m. on Friday (May 1, 2026) 49-year-old Manamma, a resident of Borabanda, quietly marked the beginning of a new chapter in public healthcare in Hyderabad. Seated among a row of chairs arranged on the ground floor of the B-Block at the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS), Sanathnagar, she rose, walked to the outpatient registration desk, and obtained her outpatient (OP) slip. In that moment, she became the first outpatient at the hospital as it opened its doors for a month-long trial run. The inauguration is scheduled for June 2.

Her journey through the hospital offered a glimpse into how the facility is expected to function once fully operational. After registering her details, she moved along a corridor leading to the consultation rooms and entered the orthopaedics department. There, Dr. Ravinder examined her for complaints of knee joint pain, prescribed medication for a few days, and advised her to return for further tests if needed.
