Vasco: The Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) wants to ensure that the integrated cruise terminal is ready before the coming cruise season, said MPA chairman, N Vinodkumar, on Monday.
“Our focus is on completing the cruise terminal which we expect to complete in the coming three to four months,” said Vinodkumar.The international cruise season is expected to commence in Nov.The chairman was speaking after the launch of a fully integrated RFID gate access system at all entry and exit points of the port. MPA authorities said the RFID system will help enhance security.Vinodkumar further said that the system ensures greater transparency and reduces the need for manual checks, thereby significantly cutting down manpower requirements at the entry and exit gates.“The new RFID-based access is expected to streamline cargo movement and improve safety protocol within the port premises,” said Vinodkumar as he called the system a “brilliant” access control mechanism that integrates with the Vahaan portal.The system enables real-time verification of vehicle registration details, pollution under control (PUC) certificates, driver identity, and cargo information too.
