Police have arrested a 30-year-old inter-State burglar who was allegedly involved in two house break-in thefts in different parts of the city.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Amarjith Sharma, a native of Haryana, allegedly broke into two houses in Wilson Garden and Ashok Nagar and stole valuables.
On September 20, the suspect broke the lock of a house in Wilson Garden and stole valuables worth ₹12 lakh. Following a complaint, the police collected fingerprints from the spot and ran them through the crime database, which revealed Amarjith’s involvement in the offence.
During the follow-up investigation, the police traced his location to Majestic in November and detained him for questioning, which revealed his involvement in the two cases in the city.
“He was earlier arrested in Haryana in a similar case and obtained bail there,” a police officer told The Hindu.
The officer said that the accused had sold the stolen valuables to vendors in Delhi and Haryana. The police have recovered the stolen items.
