After long last, the Top 2 of this season’s Indian Premier League was finally revealed after Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s match vs Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday. As per the schedule, PBKS will now play RCB in the Qualifier 1 on May 29 while MI will take on GT in the Eliminator on May 30.

The winner of Qualifier 1 will go straight into the final on June 3 while the loser of Qualify 1 will face off with the winner of the Eliminator in Qualifier 2 on June 1 to make their way to the summit clash.

Here’s how each team qualified:

Punjab Kings:

Punjab Kings humbled Mumbai Indians by seven wickets in their Indian Premier League match on May 26 to ensure a top-two finish in the playoffs. Asked to bat first, MI scored 184 for seven and PBKS completed the chase of 185 with nine balls to spare. Priyansh Arya (62 off 35 balls) and Josh Inglis (73 off 42) struck sparkling half-centuries to lead Punjab Kings’ chase. The Kings had qualified for the playoffs when they had defeated Rajasthan Royals on May 18 and then after Gujarat Titans defeated Delhi capitals on the same day.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians qualified for the playoffs after they defeated Delhi Capitals on May 21 but couldn’t make their way to the Top 2 leading them to the Eliminator after they failed to defeat the Punjab Kings on may 26. In the match, Suryakumar Yadav top-scored for MI with 57 off 39 balls while there were two wickets apiece for Marco Jansen, Arshdeep Singh and Vijaykumar Vyshak, who was, however, smashed for 23 runs in his final over by Suryakumar and Naman Dhir. They posted 184 but PBKS chased it down courtesy of Arya and Inglis’s half centuries.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Royal Challengers Bengaluru qualified for the playoffs on May 18 when Gujarat Titans defeated the Delhi Capitals. After the defeat, it became impossible for DC to catch up with RCB .

Gujarat Titans, meanwhile, qualified for the playoffs on may 18 after defeating Delhi Capitals which also helped RCB and PBKS to qualify for the next round.
