Patrick Beverley said the days following his arrest were overwhelming, especially as reports and online discussions spread across social media. Shortly after posting bail, he reacted to what he believed were inaccurate claims about the incident."I'm so motherf***ing salty right now," Beverley said on November 18. "The things that they saying on the internet is unbelievable. "Punched my sister. Choked my sister.

I just can't wait until the truth comes out."The veteran guard explained that the confrontation began after he learned his teenage sister had left the house without permission to meet an 18-year-old male. Beverley said he tried to bring her into another room during the dispute.

According to his explanation, he pulled on her arm to guide her away from the situation and grabbed the front of her hoodie to stop her from running toward the young man outside the home.

Police later arrived after the boyfriend contacted authorities. Beverley said the accounts given to officers were not the same, which led to his detention."I just understand that the narrative that people are going off is only based on the police report. I get it, I be looking at that s*** the same way. That's not at all what happened. Everybody got family issues."The former NBA guard later described the entire experience."I just wanted to kind of give you guys my reality of what the f*** I've been going through. This s***'s been depressing, it's been sad, it's been embarrassing."

Following his release from jail, Beverley said the legal restrictions placed on him created immediate challenges at home. A court order required him to stay 1,000 feet away from his sister while the case moved through the legal system.Because the siblings lived near each other in Texas, Beverley said he relocated his family to Chicago in order to comply with the requirement.

The sudden move came during a period when the veteran guard was also dealing with the public fallout of the arrest. The situation eventually shifted when a grand jury reviewed the case and declined to issue an indictment. Beverley responded publicly after the decision and expressed gratitude for the support he received during the process."I am deeply grateful for all thoughts and prayers for the family," he said. "We must continue to protect our children, especially our young girls. This ordeal has truly made our family stronger. Thank you for your continued support and prayers."Beverley’s basketball career has included stops with several teams, including the Clippers, Chicago Bulls, Philadelphia 76ers, and Milwaukee Bucks.
